Monitor and react to matters of legislation, whether emanating from the Massachusetts Legislature or the U. S. Congress, which impacts the business model of the Massachusetts Alcohol Industry.  Further, to propose bills for filing in the Massachusetts Legislature which promote the business model of off-premise licensees and to provide for the continuation of the retail segment of the Massachusetts Alcohol Industry into the future.  The Committee works in concert with the Association Political Lobbyist as well as the Political Media Relations firm.

Description

MISSION:
The mission of the Technology Committee shall be to guide the association in the implementation and utilization of new technologies to provide greater service to its members and the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  1. Maintain the technical infrastructure of the Association to ensure that board members and committees can execute their objectives to serve the Association.
  2. Identify strategic directions, capabilities, and objectives where IT can help achieve Association goals and recommend priorities.
  3. Review, evaluate and make recommendations to the Board regarding the Association's major technology plans and strategies.
  4. Monitor and evaluate future trends in technology that may affect the Association’s strategic plans, including monitoring of overall industry trends.
  5. Perform any other activities consistent with this Charter, the Association’s Bylaws and governing law as the Committee or the Board deems necessary or appropriate.
  6. Review the Committee Charter from time to time for adequacy and recommend any changes to the Board.
  7. Report to the Board on the major items covered at each Committee meeting.
GOALS:
The Technology Committee recognizes computer-based technology as a significant medium for information storage and retrieval, data analysis, research and communication. We expect technology to become an inseparable part of the Association and believe it is imperative that technology be used as an enabling force, directly complementing the objective of the Association.
We envision a technologically unified Association that will grow stronger in its membership and leadership.
  1. Integrate information resources across the Association
    A. an intuitive interface to access information (website)
    B. membership application
    C. online registration
    D. interactive online discussion forums
    E. policies and procedures
    F. online newsletters
    G. committee information
  2. Enhance information content and interactivity of Association resources
    A. reduce dependence on paper based communications and forms
    B. increase the use of interactive electronic formats
    C. reduce dependence on text-only, non-interactive electronic resources
    D. increase the ability to search electronically across the Association’s information resources
  3. Educate all members of the Association in the skills and knowledge necessary to access and make use of the Association’s information resources
    A. provide a variety of training media ranging from workshops to individual self-help guides
    B. advocate an emphasis on technology across the Association from the Board of Directors, committees and staff
    C. create and maintain an easily accessible central guide for using the Association’s technology resources and a central point for technology assistance
COMMITTEE MEETINGS:
The Committee will meet periodically as necessary to act upon any matter within its jurisdiction. A majority of the total number of members of the Committee shall constitute a quorum at all Committee meetings.
All meetings shall be held subject to and in accordance with the Association's Bylaws (including without limitation notice, quorum and votes/actions of the committee.) Minutes shall be kept of each meeting of the Committee.
